Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency (MCCAA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals, families, and communities in Middle Tennessee to achieve economic self-sufficiency and improved quality of life. Founded in 1971 as part of the national Community Action Network, MCCAA works to address poverty by offering a wide range of support services—including Head Start early childhood education, home-energy and utility assistance, nutrition programs, emergency support, weatherization, and family assistance—across multiple counties in the region. The agency’s mission is to act as a steppingstone for stronger communities where people with low incomes can connect, grow, and maintain dignity, with services funded through federal, state, local, and private partnerships.
