Position Summary
Flight Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee all accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and financial operations of the company. The Controller will serve as a key member of the management team and will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, improving financial processes, supporting strategic growth initiatives, and ensuring the overall financial health of the organization.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on financial professional with strong accounting expertise, leadership ability, and a desire to contribute to a dynamic and growing aviation business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Provide management with timely financial reporting and performance analysis.
  • Coordinate annual tax preparation and financial reviews with external accountants and advisors.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management
  • Monitor daily cash positions and company liquidity.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital requirements.
  • Oversee banking relationships and financial institutions.
  • Monitor and manage company credit facilities and financing arrangements.
  • Ensure adequate cash reserves to support operational and growth objectives.

Aircraft Management & Aviation Accounting
  • Oversee accounting and reporting for managed aircraft accounts.
  • Review owner billings, maintenance expenses, fuel purchases, crew expenses, charter revenues, and aircraft operating costs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing of aircraft owners and clients.
  • Monitor profitability of managed aircraft and related aviation services.
  • Support management with operational and financial analysis related to aviation activities.

Payroll Administration
  • Oversee payroll administration through a third-party payroll service provider.
  • Review and approve payroll submissions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with the payroll provider to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Reconcile payroll expenses, taxes, and related liabilities within the accounting system.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable payroll tax reporting and filing requirements.

Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Coordinate external audits, reviews, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Maintain company policies and procedures designed to safeguard assets and financial information.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record retention practices.

Strategic Leadership
  • Participate in executive planning and strategic business discussions.
  • Assist with acquisitions, financing activities, and special projects.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Provide financial guidance to support company growth initiatives and long-term planning.
  • Work closely with ownership and senior management to support operational and financial decision-making.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

Preferred
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • Experience managing accounting functions for a small to mid-sized business.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting structures.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise or similar accounting platforms.
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll service platforms such as ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or similar providers.
  • Aviation-focused accounting and financial management experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with aircraft management, charter operations, maintenance accounting, FBO operations, fuel sales, or aviation service businesses is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA-regulated business environments and aviation-specific financial reporting is a significant advantage.
  • Understanding of managed aircraft accounting, owner billing, charter revenue tracking, and aircraft operating expenses is preferred.
