The Sumner County Health Committee is excited to spearhead the 2nd annual event to pick up trash and debris that has collected along public roadways, rivers edge, and creek banks. Saturday, March 25 has been set for a county-wide clean-up event. The initial clean-up day saw over 300 volunteers across the county removing 15,000 pounds of litter from roadways, waterways, and creek banks across the county. The Sumner County Health Committee, committed to improving the quality of life in Sumner County saw a need and stepped up to help. County clean-up day event is a partnership with City officials from Hendersonville, Gallatin, Portland, Westmoreland, White House, Sumner County Highway Department, area Chamber of Commerce, and Tennessee Department of Transportation.
“Last year’s event was recognized as one of the largest organized clean up events across the state. We hope to increase participation numbers this year. We are looking for volunteers to beautify the community, build community support while getting a little exercise on what we hope is a beautiful spring day, March 25th” states Committee Chairperson, Ashley Berry.
This event is open to everyone, and the Health Committee is looking for volunteers. Individuals, families, civic clubs, school organizations, church groups, youth groups, Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts, sports teams, and businesses are welcome to sign up and register to participate.
