4th Annual Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab Community Open House

Join Vanderbilt's Music Cognition Lab on August 28th from 5-7pm for a FREE annual community event designed to invite you into our research and to showcase the work of the lab around music in health. The Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab, located on Music Row, opens its doors to the community for a FREE community event on Thursday, August 28th from 5-7pm. Lab directors Reyna Gordon, PhD, Miriam Lense, PhD, and Srishti Nayak, PhD, and their research staff and trainees welcome you to come by to meet the scientists, and enjoy live music and refreshments. Attendees can chat with the research team about how they are exploring a vast array of scientific mysteries, including: How can music support parenting? What do we pay attention to when we hear speech or music? How does music foster social and emotional connection? Why is music important for mental health? How is musicality related to human development? How are music, science and medicine related? How is our hearing connected with how musical we are? Is being musical part of our biology? The Open House is sponsored by the Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at VUMC and The Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy at Vanderbilt. The event takes place at the “Lab House”, 1408 17th Ave South, Nashville, TN, at 5pm on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
